A Lofted Living Experience
Fall 2022 | Instructed by - Merike Mighell
** Project Primarily Completed in SketchUp
-
This was my first project using SketchUp. This interior architecture studio was based on redesigning an existing space in Eugene, Oregon. This project was designed to promote and uniquely incorporate creativity, community, and collaboration into a design. We were tasked to design an artist live-work space. The design was intended to have artist apartment suites as well as multiple artist workspaces, a large mixed media gallery space to display artwork, and a café.

The design intention was to provide a space that artists would be inspired within. The design was meant to promote seeing through an artistic lens while also promoting user’s creativity, a sense of community, and collaboration.

‘Lofted living’ artist live-work spaces
-
The hope behind my specific design for this studio was that artists would be inspired through a different artistic lens while they are within the space. This design features ‘lofted living’ artist suites. The artist live-work suites contain large interior windows that work to frame a view from the loft area down onto the workspace from the upper living space. These individual suites will open up into one collaborative, shared workspace. This creative collaboration space will be centrally located as well as work to connect the spaces and create a gradient threshold to pass through as you move throughout the spaces. The design has multiple garage doors which are placed to provide flexibility in space usage. There is a conference room adjacent to the mixed media gallery space that can function as a space for many different events or uses.
